Extensively tested and sustainable
The WEDECO brand K series UV system is a proven, energy-efficient UV solution for drinking water applications at large facilities whenever a closed-vessel UV system is preferred. The system has demonstrated its ability with many installations worldwide for drinking water.
The K system comprising Xylem’s sensor-controlled OptiDose™ controller monitors operating conditions in real time, including flow, UV transmittance, and UV intensity and then automatically adjusts the energy consumption to the minimum needed to meet dosing requirements. No assumptions are made regarding process parameters, ensuring cost savings and optimized real-time UV dosage.
High efficiency and modularity
For improved economics and maximum sustainability, the K series employ Xylem low-pressure, high-output, amalgam EcoRay® UV lamps and ballasts. Used in combination with the variable power option, the EcoRay lamp technology results in excellent energy efficiency under all operating conditions. Particularly in dimmed mode, they realize average energy savings of up to 20%* compared to existing technologies.
The K series UV system can be supplied with 2 to 13UV module rows, allowing optimized design tailored to flow range requirements. The system can be designed to match specific site requirements by either supplying the vessel with room for more rows, or by providing flanges to allow more rows to be added. The system can be installed indoors or outdoors, with customized control modes, cabinet types, and SCADA communication types. An optional stainless steel control cabinet enclosure with air conditioning can be provided for use for high ambient temperature applications The K series controller unifies all sensor signals, alarms, SCADA connectivity, and OptiDose™ closed loop control for easy monitoring and control. An offline cleaning system keeps the sleeves clean, minimizing manual cleaning effort, and EcoRay® UV lamps come with a 14,000h lamp life guarantee.*
Validated disinfection capabilities
The Xylem WEDECO brand K series UV disinfection systems have undergone third-party validation testing in accordance with the UVDGM (USEPA, 2006). Validated products are tested to confirm a minimum inactivation equivalent of 3 log (99.9%) for target microorganisms in accordance with the UVDGM. Performance is not claimed nor implied for any product not yet validated; unvalidated products use single point summation calculations to provide delivered dose recommendations.
