The APV DarMix+ Series from ITT Flow Technologies is a compact, energy-efficient in-line mixer designed for hygienic mixing of butter, butter blends and other food, beverage and dairy products. It ensures consistent results across viscosities, with CIP compatibility and non product-contact bearings to reduce cleaning time, energy use and operating costs. The main use of the DarMix+ mixer is for blending of high viscosity liquids with low viscosity liquids. It can also be used to create light emulsions. Typical applications are: Low fat spreads, butter and margarine, Fruit puree and culture, colour and flavour blending in high viscous phases such as processed cheese.

How the APV DarMix+ Rotor-Stator Mixing System Works
The APV DarMix+ is an in-line mixer designed for continuous processing of a wide range of liquid and semi-solid products with a capacity range from 3000 – 6000 l/h. It is particularly effective for applications requiring the blending of high-viscosity materials and light emulsification.
The DarMix+ is a dynamic multistage rotor/stator mixer with multiple perforated stator rings and rotor wheels positioned between the rings. The rotors are equipped with pins and are mounted on a central shaft which rotates at high speed.
As the product is pumped through the mixer it flows axially through the stator ring holes. Simultaneously, the rotating pins of the rotor wheels generate tangential shear forces, which act on the product as it passes through each stage. This dual action of axial flow and tangential shear ensures intensive mixing, breaking down particles and droplets to achieve a fine, uniform dispersion or emulsion.
The mixer is not self-priming and does not provide any pumping action. Therefore, a feed pump is required to maintain a consistent flow of product through the system.
The mixing intensity is adjustable via a frequency converter, allowing precise control over rotor speed to match product characteristics and processing requirements.
