Energy efficient and easy to maintain

Xylem’s easy and cost-effective WEDECO TAK Smart UV system is suitable for use in applications with low wastewater flows, without any compromise in quality or flexibility.

TAK Smart system relies on lamp modules that are engineered for long-term use, and it’s compact UV lamp arrangement allows for highly concentrated power in a small space. The result is UV exposure even with larger volume flows and low UV transmittance (UVT) from the wastewater.

For improved economics and maximum sustainability, TAK Smart systems employ low-pressure, high-output, amalgam EcoRay® UV lamps and ballasts. The low lamp count, coupled with the long service life of EcoRay lamps, result in exceptionally low maintenance costs. Used in combination with the variable power option, the EcoRay lamp technology results in excellent energy efficiency under all operating conditions. Particularly in dimmed mode, they realize average energy savings of up to 20% compared to existing technologies. Additionally, the sensor-controlled OptiDose™ control philosophy monitors operating conditions in real time, including flow, UV transmittance, UV intensity, and adjusts the energy consumption to the minimum needed to meet dosing requirements.

The WEDECO TAK Smart™ UV system also improves operator usability with minimum maintenance. The EcoTouch™ controller unifies all sensor signals, alarms, SCADA connectivity, and OptiDose closed loop control for easiest monitoring and control.

Customizable, ready-to-assemble systems

Ready to assemble, TAK Smart systems is are available to match specific site requirements. It can either be installed into a concrete channel or comes together with a stainless steel channel. Along with single bank arrangements, double UV bank arrangements are possible for redundancy or higher dose requirements.

Electric components like ballast cards are separated from UV lamp modules for easy maintenance and operational stability. Cabinets are rated for both indoor and outdoor service, even at high ambient temperatures, with an optional stainless steel enclosure and air conditioning, providing flexibility in plant construction or retrofitting.

Cleaning is simple and safe thanks to TAK Smart’s automatic, chemical-free wiper system. The excellent cleaning performance of the wiping system has been confirmed by independent institutions and significantly reduces the formation of deposits.

TAK UV systems have been tested and evaluated to ensure the performance you need to meet your specific water quality, plant conditions, and treatment objectives with no compromise.

The TAK Smart system is the perfect fit for small wastewater treatment plants looking for an economic and environmentally sound process.

Validated disinfection capabilities

The WECECO® TAK Smart UV disinfection systems have undergone third-party validation testing in accordance with the UVDGM (USEPA, 2006) and NWRI. Validated products are tested to confirm a minimum inactivation equivalent of 3 log (99.9%) for target microorganisms in accordance with the UVDGM. Performance is not claimed nor implied for any product not yet validated; unvalidated products use single point summation calculations to provide delivered dose recommendations. Performance limitations depend on feed conditions, overall installed system design, and operation and maintenance processes; please refer to Operations Manuals.
